I am eliminating soy, corn, gluten, and dairy. I'm allowing myself to eat organic, antibiotic meats though. This morning shopping for food was a quick reminder of how difficult this can be: read labels, read labels, read labels!! Each time I do a detox, the easier it becomes with meal-planning, plus I have this great cookbook - The Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook with lots of gluten-free, dairy-free, and egg-free recipes.

10-Day Detox
2 years ago, I was in Thailand and did a 7-day fast, which consisted of water, psyllium, vitamins, and colonics. No juice. No food. I had never been a believer of long-term fasting and am still hesitant on it, but do believe in occasional detoxing. At first I attempted to do a "detox" 4 times per year (seasonal), but now can only manage it once per year. Today is Day 1 of a 10-day Detox. This helps me get in touch with my patients (food elimination) and the food I put into my body.

Today is Day 5 of the Detox. Up until last night, I haven't noticed much of a difference. Usually I experience mild dull headaches or itchy skin in the first 2 days. This time around I'm noticing it Days 4-5.
On this detox, I'm not pushing the liver as much as I have in the past. Perhaps that's the delayed response. I am taking fiber supplements and a mild laxative at night, so I am getting bloated and gassy, with cramping, which isn't pleasant. But I keep thinking: I need those toxins to bind to that fiber and get out of my system!! I feel it happening. And I feel good.
I finished my 10-day detox a few days ago and feel great now (I'm reinspired to eat more vegetables). The detox was a great reminder to be conscious of what I put into my body.
